Animalculator is a calculator with a menagerie behind it. Do a sum and an animal turns up to stand on the answer: 199 illustrations across 22 packs, cut out to sit on the backdrop rather than in a frame. It works offline, it shows no ads, and it collects nothing about you. Birds, house cats and the pandas are free. One payment opens everything else, forever.
Open Settings, tap the unlock screen and choose Restore purchases. Make sure the phone is signed in to the same App Store or Google Play account you bought with, and that it has a connection. If the packs still do not open, email us with your receipt.
Install the app, then use Restore purchases with the same store account. The unlock is permanent and moves with your store account, not with the handset. Settings and the daily animal start fresh, because those never left the old device.
No. There is one optional purchase that unlocks every pack and backdrop forever, including packs added in later updates. Nothing recurs and nothing expires.
Nothing, on purpose. A tip is a way of saying the app was worth something to you. It unlocks no packs and grants no advantage, so please do not tip expecting to receive anything back. It can be used more than once, which is why there is no restore button beside it.
Refunds are handled by the store rather than by us. On iPhone or iPad use reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android open the Play Store, then your order history. If the problem is that something did not unlock, write to us first, because that is usually a two-minute fix.
Settings lets you pick the hour: morning, afternoon or evening. The app schedules a fortnight of them at a time and tops the queue up whenever you open it, so an app left unopened for two weeks goes quiet instead of firing into next year.
Through your phone, which is where notifications are actually controlled. On iPhone: Settings → Notifications → Animalculator. On Android: Settings → Apps → Animalculator → Notifications. There is no second switch inside the app, because a second switch could only ever disagree with that one.
iOS offers the permission prompt exactly once, so the app cannot ask a second time. Turn it back on in Settings → Notifications → Animalculator → Allow Notifications and the daily animal resumes the next time you open the app.
No. They are scheduled on your phone by the app, not sent from a server. Nothing about them leaves the device, and they work in airplane mode.
Yes. Every illustration, sound and fact ships inside the app. A connection is only needed to buy or restore a purchase, and a pack you already own stays unlocked when you are offline.
Some were commissioned for the app. Others are reproductions of public-domain plates held by museums and archives, such as Audubon's The Birds of America. Tap any animal on the calculator to see the artist, the work it comes from, and the institution that holds it.
Yes. Settings → Which keys? switches between the basic and scientific layouts.
The app follows your device language and can be set by hand in Settings → Language. Eight languages are available. Species names and artwork credits stay in their original form rather than being translated.
None that identifies you. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and what you type into the calculator never leaves your phone. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Please send it. The app has a Bugs & feature requests link in Settings that opens an email with the app version and device already filled in, which saves a round trip. Or write to us directly at the address below.
