Privacy Policy

Animalculator · Effective date: 14 August 2026

This policy explains what Animalculator (the "App") does with information when you use it. It is written to match what the App actually does, which is very little: there is no account to create, no advertising, no analytics, and no server of ours for your data to sit on.

The App is published by Matri Rush ("we", "us", "our"), an independent developer in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria, who is the data controller. Contact: support@matrirush.com.

The short version. Your sums, your settings and your progress stay on your phone. We show no ads, use no analytics or crash-reporting service, and read no advertising identifier. The only information that leaves your device is what is needed to sell and restore an in-app purchase, and that goes to the app store and to our purchase processor, not to us in a form that names you.

1. What stays on your device

Everything the App remembers about how you use it is stored locally, in the App's own storage on your phone (iOS user defaults, Android shared preferences). It is not uploaded anywhere and it is not readable by other apps. That includes:

Calculations are never recorded or transmitted. What you type into the calculator exists only while the App is open.

Deleting the App removes all of this from your device.

2. What leaves your device, and why

The App needs a network connection for one job only: buying, restoring and verifying in-app purchases. The illustrations, sounds and animal facts are all bundled inside the App and are not fetched from anywhere.

RecipientWhat they receiveWhy
Apple App Store or Google Play Your payment and the transaction, handled entirely by the store under your existing store account. To take payment for an in-app purchase or a tip. We never see your card, your billing address or your store account details.
RevenueCat (our purchase processor) An anonymous user ID that RevenueCat generates for the install (not linked to your name, email or store account), the store's purchase receipt, and basic technical facts about the device such as platform, OS version, App version and country. To validate the receipt, decide which packs are unlocked, and make "Restore purchases" work on a new phone.
RevenueCat One optional, self-reported answer to "How did you find us?" during first-run setup: searching the App Store, someone told me, or somewhere else. So we can tell which of those actually brings people to the App. It is a single word you chose from a list, with no identifier read from your device.
Us, by email Only what you choose to write to us, plus the App version and device type the bug-report link fills in for you. To answer you and fix the problem.

3. What we deliberately do not do

4. Notifications

If you allow them, the App shows you one animal a day with a fact about it. These are local notifications: the App schedules a fortnight of them on your phone, and your phone delivers them. There is no push server, no push token, and nothing about your notifications reaches us or anyone else. You can turn them off at any time in your device settings, and choose the hour they arrive in the App's own settings.

5. Ratings and reviews

The App may occasionally offer to open the rating sheet that Apple or Google provides. That sheet belongs to the platform. We are not told whether you rated the App or what you said, and the App does not send any rating anywhere itself.

6. Legal bases for processing (EU, UK and Nigeria)

Where the GDPR, the UK GDPR or Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023 applies:

7. International transfers

RevenueCat, Apple and Google operate globally, so purchase data may be processed on servers outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. Where that involves personal data of people in the EU or UK, those providers rely on appropriate safeguards, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Retention

Data on your device is kept until you delete the App. Purchase records held by RevenueCat and by the app stores are kept for as long as the purchase must remain restorable and for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is typically six to seven years. Support emails are kept until the matter is resolved and then deleted, ordinarily within twelve months.

9. Children

Animalculator is a general-audience calculator. It is safe for children to use: it contains no advertising, no tracking, no chat, no user-generated content, no links to social networks, and it collects no personal information from anyone, children included. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, write to support@matrirush.com and we will delete it.

In-app purchases are handled entirely by the app store. If you share a device with a child, use your platform's parental controls (Apple's Ask to Buy and Screen Time, or Google Play's purchase authentication) to require approval before a purchase completes.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, delete and port your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and not to be treated differently for exercising any of it.

In practice most of this is already in your hands: the App holds nothing that identifies you, and deleting the App erases everything it stored. What we can act on is a purchase record. To have one deleted, email support@matrirush.com from any address with your store receipt or transaction ID and say what you want done. We will confirm and complete the request within 30 days. Note that deleting a purchase record also removes our ability to restore that purchase to you, and that we must keep a minimal, non-identifying record of a completed sale for tax purposes.

California (CCPA / CPRA)

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not collect sensitive personal information. There is therefore no "Do Not Sell or Share" mechanism to operate, and no opt-out for you to make. You may still email us to exercise any right listed above, and we will not discriminate against you for it.

EU, UK and Nigeria

You may complain to your data protection authority: in Nigeria the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), in the UK the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), and in the EU your national supervisory authority. We would rather you wrote to us first so we can fix it.

11. Security

Data in transit to the app stores and to RevenueCat travels over encrypted connections. Data at rest on your phone is protected by your device's own sandboxing and encryption. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but the honest reassurance here is structural rather than technical: we hold almost nothing that could be worth stealing.

12. Third-party policies

13. Changes to this policy

If the App starts doing something this policy does not describe, the policy changes first. We will update the effective date above, and for any material change we will say so in the App.
